WORST: Dodge Viper, 14 MPG–Most of us cannot afford a Dodge Viper, but if you can you will likely be able to afford the gas money. The Dodge Viper only gets 14 miles per gallon. BEST:Toyota Yaris iA, 35 MPG –You might not be familiar with the Toyota Yaris iA. That is because it the car formerly known as the Scion iA. This car has a six-speed transmission with sharp and responsive handling. With its 35 MPG rating, it is as thrifty as it is fun to drive.
WORST: Chevrolet Camaro, 15 MPG –There is no surprise here. The Chevy Camaro doesn’t come out on top on the list of vehicles with the best and worst gas mileage. WORST: Mercedes-Benz AMG S65 and BMW Gran Coupe, 16MPG - If you can afford the Mercedes-Benz AMG S65 price tag of $145,625, then what you will pay in gas won’t make you blink an eye. This car ties with the BMW Gran Coupe for worst gas mileage in its class. However, the BMW Gran Coupe will save you a few bucks with a price tag of $41,950.
BEST:Honda Civic, 36 MPG – The Honda brand is known for its reliability. But, it should be equally known for its fuel economy. Honda has three other models that are the best in their class for fuel efficiency. The Honda Civic is tied as the runner up for top position on the list of vehicles with the best and worst gas mileage across all classes. BEST:Honda Civic Hatchback, 34 MPG – You may not consider the Honda Civic Hatchback a large car. But, because of its spacious interior and cargo space it is. WORST: Five-Way Tie, 16 MPG – Five cars tied for worst fuel efficiency in the large cars class. All of them with gas mileage of 16 miles per gallon. They are the BMW M760i AWD, Chevrolet SS, Dodge Charger SRT, Mercedes-AMG S65, and Mercedes-Maybach S600.
BEST:Honda Fit, 36 MPG – The Honda Fit features 5 doors allowing you to transport your family and friends in comfort and style. Its 36 MPG rating is tied for the #2 slot on the list of vehicles with the best and worst gas mileage with its sister car, the Honda Civic. Honda has two cars with the best gas mileage you can find only second to the Mitsubishi Mirage.
WORST: Infiniti QX50, 20 MPG – The Infiniti QX50 does not get great gas mileage. This is clear when compared to some SUVs with better fuel economy. However, the QX50 delivers spacious luxury that can be worth the price at the pump.
Small Pickup Trucks
BEST:Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, 25 MPG – A small pickup truck offers most of the benefits of a large pickup truck at a smaller size. TheChevrolet Coloradoand its counterpart, theGMC Canyon both have a combined 25 MPG rating. If you need a light-duty pickup truck, with a towing capacity of 3,500 to 7,000 pounds both are the best options for fuel efficiency.
WORST: Nissan Frontier 4WD, 17 MPG –If you need a light duty pickup truck the Nissan Frontier 4WD is not going to save you any money at the pump. But, if you need a strong V6 engine and four-wheel drive it can still be a pickup to consider. Just keep in mind you will have to pay for it at the pump, since it only gets 17 miles to the gallon.
Standard Pickup Trucks
BEST:Ford F-150, 22 MPG – People who are interested in a pickup truck usually think going with a small pickup truck will help save in gas expenses. They would be surprised to know that a standard pickup comes in with a better MPG rating than the most fuel efficient small pickup trucks. The Ford F-150 impresses with 22 miles per gallon. WORST: Four-Way Tie, 18 MPG - Four SUVs tied for worst fuel efficiency in the small SUV class. All of them with gas mileage of 18 miles per gallon. They are the Jeep Wrangler, Infiniti QX70 AWD, GMC Terrain AWD, and Chevrolet Equinox AWD.
BEST:BMW X5 AWD, 25 MPG – For a luxury SUV, 25 miles per gallon isn’t bad at all. Even though it is one of the most efficient SUVs on the road, the X5 AWD is hardly among the cheapest.
